Ministering to Young People in Detention/Prevention
John 10:10

RoadBlock Ministries was formed in September of 1996 by Bro. Ronnie Blake and Bro. Joel Beard. We travel into the juvenile detention centers and share the gospel with troubled young people. The ministry was born of a burden to see them turn to the Lord for salvation, and for deliverance from the bondage of sin(Isaiah 58:6-8). The Lord has been gracious by introducing us to wonderful people who share our burden. Their contributions of prayer, and financial support, have helped sustain us these past four years. We give all the credit to our Lord, that since 1996 we have had over 5,000 young people to make a profession of accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour! Praise God for His unspeakable gift! (Romans 6:23) There is no other way to receive eternal life, than to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour! (Acts 4:12, John 14:6) Young and old alike must acknowledge that they are sinners, believe that Jesus died for their sin, and call on Him to be their Saviour. We are able to provide each young person we meet with a, King James Translation bible. We’ve given out over 6,000 bibles in these 4 years! We are thankful that His word will not return void! (Isaiah 55:11) "For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake."

(II Corinthians 4:5)

While in the juvenile detention centers, we notice that many, if not most, of the young people have no knowledge of who Jesus really is. One night we asked 46 kids in the center; how many of you know John 3:16? Out of 46, only 4 knew what I was talking about! We are now blessed to say that we have began another phase of the ministry. RoadBlock Prevention Ministries was created in January of 2000. We are restoring the old Tuscaloosa County Baptist campground. It is called Camp Tuscoba, and has 120 acres of land, a 25 acre lake, a full sized gymnasium, an activity field, and many more features. Local churches and individuals have pitched in to help by painting, cleaning, donating articles and money, and we can now sleep 40 young people and counselors. We also have 8 paddle boats, ping pong tables, volleyball court, and the gym has basketball goals. Five camps were conducted this past summer, and nineteen accepted Christ as Saviour! Our prayer is that we can continue to provide an atmosphere where young people can learn of the Lord, and be instructed in His ways. Every time we meet, we share the gospel, and give everyone an opportunity to accept Christ! We will have pictures on our site in the near future. Please pray for us as we continue to seek God’s will in our personal lives, as well as the field where He has called us to labor.
